Ebook About Fifteen tropical islands, fifteen chapters filled with adventure. This book lets you hop aboard a little sailboat and join the author on a three-year-long voyage across French Polynesia, where you will discover some of the most interesting places, people and wildlife of the South Pacific. From the world-famous island of Bora Bora to the remotest atolls of the Tuamotus, experience the challenges and rewards of the seafaring life as you dive with dolphins and sharks, sail under the stars, drink from fresh coconuts in the company of heavily-tattooed men, brave heavy storms and violent currents, play with stingrays, drift down coral rivers and meet fellow sailors from across the world.Beautifully illustrated with dozens of stunning photos, this book is the perfect companion for anyone curious about a different kind of life. Readers have said:Reading the book, I was surrounded by unfamiliar colours and overwhelmed by the scent of flowers I had never touched. I could feel the soft sand beneath my feet and slipped beneath the water to swim in the deep silence of the ocean. Returning to the surface, I encountered the smiles of people who were content in the here and now, embodying the freedom and softness of their lives, their lively hips moving in its rhythm. We should all go there once to bathe in the endless sunshine, the grace of carelessness and faith in life, even if only by reading this book…Translated from Slovene by Kaja ŠerugaEdited by Mitja Tretjak Design by Ivica JandrijevicBook All the Colours of Polynesia Review :
This is the second book of Jasna’s that I’ve read and I love it just as much as the first. Where the first was more of a story of her personal experience and growth making her first major ocean crossing, this is more about the wonderful location she arrived at. I’ve been lucky enough to visit French Polynesia a few times myself, and she absolutely describes the location and the people perfectly. If you have been and want to reminisce, or want to go and learn more about where you want to visit, I highly recommend it. There is a perfect balance of description of the locale, personal observations, and comparison of the various areas. You feel like you’ve got both a travel guide with you, but also a friend who you get to know better along the way.But do yourself a favor and read the kindle book on an iPad or color kindle and not a paperwhite - the photos are just too gorgeous to appreciate in black and white! I absolutely loved and immensely enjoyed reading the newest book from this author. She is becoming my favorite travel writer. After reading her amazing A Drop in the Ocean about her crossing of the Pacific Ocean I was impatiently waiting for the next chapter... a more relaxing but not less interesting chronicle of her island hopping in the French Polynesia. This book is not a tourist guide. This is a travel book and as such will make you learn about the actual life of the people that live there for generations and you will learn how is the life of a modern time nomad among these islands and their people, the intimate bonding that is created when your boat life encounters the lives of the island people. It was very interesting learning the differences between the various islands that make the French Polynesia... some are very developed like Bora Bora and some could be considered paradise on earth, untouched by mass tourist. If you are sailboat enthusiast I believe you will get some very useful information about how to enter an atoll and what are the dangers. Caution! If you read this in the cold New England winter, it might cause day dreaming of clear tropical waters and sunny beaches. Recommended!
